On October 15 friends and supporters of Men Stopping Violence will gather to honor individuals and, this year, media, playing an important role in ending male violence against women. The event, held at Loews Hotel Midtown in Atlanta, will begin at 6:30 with a reception and silent auction. Honorary chairs for the 2011 Dinner are George McKerrow Jr., President and CEO, Ted’s Montana Grill and HLN Anchor Richelle Carey.
The emcee for this year’s Awards Dinner will be CNN Anchor Don Lemon, author of new best seller Transparent.
The recipients this year are:
The Kathleen Carlin Justice Seekers Award will be presented to Ann Stallard, philanthropist, community leader, CEO of Graphic Communications past chairman of the United Way U.S. National Board of Trustees, and member of the global board of the World YWCA.
The Dick Bathrick Activist Award will be presented to Victor Rivas Rivers, Actor, Athlete, Activist, Author
National Spokesperson, the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and Verizon Community Champion
The True Ally Award will be presented to an online magazine, The Good Men Project because they are “creating a community where men can talk openly and honestly about their lives.” While the Good Men Project Magazine takes no position on what it means to be a good man, their articles on relationships, fatherhood, self-care, sex, and homophobia contribute valuable insights into issues that need to be addressed as we work to end male violence against women.
